The difference makers can be events, people or situations and much more. Mindset matters, maybe much more that we think. Accepting challenges and working in the discomfort zone are difference makers. Ultimately, you the coach are the most significant difference maker.

What’s the smallest thing you can do to make a difference – to change a habit, to construct a new habit, to train smarter, to perform better? Start. And persist. Ultimately, the athlete makes a choice/decision to follow the path, the guidelines, the principles, the plan and/or the prescription/s of the coach – either in preparation/training for competition or during competition.
Hence, in my mind, the athlete is *the most* significant difference maker.
As a coach, over time I prefer to coach independent decision making and ownership by athletes, not clones or robots. And that has potential to make the most significant difference.
