Dotting the i’s

Interest – Stimulate it. Keep the athlete interested by
challenging them, by testing their limits and capabilities. Never allow them to
be comfortable.

Involvement – All in or nothing. You can’t make a partial
commitment and achieve anything worthwhile.

Innovation – Constantly look for new possibilities. Look at
the world differently to find new and better ways to do things.

Intensity – It is a given. Without intensity there is no
training. Think of it as how you go about doing what you do. Train with
precision and sharpness.

Instruction – Teach constantly, coaching is teaching. Look
for teachable moments and exploit them

Interaction – Communicate to connect. Ultimately our
effectiveness as coaches depends on our ability to communicate a clear message
that elicits the desired action.
