Is there a
training message in the performances of Dara Torres? Probabaly. From
what I have been able to discern she has focused on quality, intensity, focus
and direction. Train don’t strain. She is truly training like a sprinter rather
than a distance or middle distance swimmer who sprints. Technique is important.
Certainly dispels myths about aging, childbirth and performance. Drugs – maybe,
maybe not? Always will be a specter there. What do we know, what don’t we know.
Two years off – was she tested? What was she tested for? Overall I am quite
skeptical.

Good points here – I go back and forth on it – she uses a two person stretching technique that keeps her fascia and other structures in good stead, trains smarter not harder thanks to her flawless swimming technique, but her husband is pretty much a qualified chemist… hard to know where to go with that one…

She has the natural techniques, the ability and a disciplined regime of training, who knows if she needed that extra push though.
