I Wonder Why?

"I
wonder why. I wonder why. / I wonder why I wonder / I wonder why I wonder why /
I wonder why I wonder!"  Scientist
Richard Feynman

Feynman is
one of my heroes. I also wonder why. Here are some of the things I recently
have wondered about:

Why
does every injury, no matter how insignificant need an MRI?

Why
when we know so much more about sport science, do we keep making the same
training mistakes?

Why
don’t we value substance over style, hype and marketing?

Why
was mandatory physical education eliminated?

Why
does everyone under the age of 35 think Athletes performance invented training?

Why
is every group of exercises now called a matrix?

Why
is it so hard to understand that the internet has no filter – everyone is an
expert?

Why
do fit athletes in twenties and thirties need to go to anti-aging doctors?

Why
were there so few positive drug tests in the 2008 Olympics?

These are
just a few things I wonder about as I ponder life’s persistent mysteries. I
would be interested to hear what you wonder about.

  1. Why don’t people understand that anyone can be a celebrity but it takes real talent and determination to be a true actor.
Why do people fight over the closest parking spots in the commercial gym parking lot then those same people try to look cool limping on the treadmill for an hour?
Why don’t all the teacher’s in high school workout after school in their own school gyms? It’s silly to pay fifty dollars + a month for a commercial gym membership. Why do adults keep ruining kids sports and play activities? Why does it seem there is limited info. on coaching and a ton of info on exercises and conditioning?
Why do some people stop moving when they start exercising?
Why do some young adults with awesome natural talent quit after they prove themselves?
Why don’t I have all the answers? and if someone does why are they not telling me!?

  2. I wonder why so many doctors smoke and are so fat and out of shape.
I wonder why baseball coaches are so worried about the dominant eye in batting but I never see a tennis player worry about it.
I wonder why you have to travel 30+ miles from home to be an expert.
I wonder if something is really better than nothing.
I wonder why more schools do not have gyms/ball fields/soccer fields.
I wonder why so many kids are given drugs to control their behaviour.
I wonder why so many teachers and administrators are against sports when it is well documented the increased learning that takes place with regular exercise.
